Woman, rise at Chale Wote Festival in Accra

Jessica Horn collaborated with Ghanaian muralist Ayambire Faustina Nsoh to create portraits of Africa’s feminist ancestors. The project began with Zimbabwean Freedom Nyamubaya and Nigerian Funmilayo Ransome Kuti, and included an invitation for festival participants to invoke the names of their own African feminist ancestors. The initiative was featured in the courtyard of Brazil House at Accra’s Chale Wote Festival in 2016.
